The Kids

Jail Bird

I purchased (what I thought was) a cute little one piece outfit for Andrew. Lloyd mentioned that it looks like a prison jump suit, and now I can't get that imagine out of my mind when Andrew wears it. It was particularly funny to see him straining against the chain link fence longing for "freedom":-)

Computer Geek

I can't seem to keep Andrew away from the computer . . . perhaps we have a techy in our future.

Kids say the darnest things. . .

Dad was teasing Anika yesterday when he caught her off-guard as he flipped her upside down. I could see Anika's petrified face and warned Daddy just as she started crying hysterically. Dad cuddled Anika on the couch and tried to explain to her that he didn't mean to scare her. "I was just playing with you," he said. "Daddy," sobbed Anika, "I'm NOT a toy."

The laughter was contagious and soon even Anika joined in. Now Anika goes around the house saying, "I'm not a toy" and laughing hysterically. She cracks herself up -- and her parents, too, sometimes!!

A Dog's Life

I had to snap a picture of our dog and her attachment to her ball. She is dozing on the floor and she still has her paw on her tennis ball. (I don't usually allow them in the house but . . .) This is about 9:30pm or so and it is my favorite time of day with Scout. She is so loving and calm and sweet-tempered.

Anika's First Rainbow

Well we don't get a lot of rain around here but we've had some this spring. On Saturday afternoon, we had a pretty good shower (for SUNNYside). We looked out our front window and what did we see? An AMAZING rainbow. It actually stretched across the sky but I didn't have a wide angle lens so you will have to put it together yourself:-)
(Of course pictures can't do it justice. . . Anika was very disappointed when it faded. This is the first rainbow she remembers. She just got a Dora book from Aunt Rachel about a rainbow!)

Clearing a Patch

Lloyd is clearing me a patch for a small garden. (The spot is larger than the garden will be; I'm starting slow!) Anika was so excited to help. Dad has his shovel and rake so Anika had to have hers too. She helped Daddy to "shobel" the "mud". I was quite amazed at her fortitude. She stuck with Dad for the long haul. As long as he was out there, she was too.

Monkey see/Monkey do!

Easter Hunt

My friend, Linda, just emailed me a few pictures of the kids "hunting" eggs. Anika really got into it; Andrew was just fascinated with shaking the one egg that he picked up. (Mom snagged a few more for him to take home - for when the jealousy set in!)
Although the rest of us changed into something more comfortable after church, Anika didn't want to take off her Easter dress so . . . I finally got her to take it off for her nap.

Happy Easter!

Our Family! Today was a gorgeous 70 degree day.Anika loves to pose for the camera - especially in her pink Easter dress.
Andrew does NOT like posing for the camera. Anika tried to hold him down for one picture:-)

We try not to make Easter about new clothes and candy but some of that made its way into our day. We had two wonderful worship services that we enjoyed today as well, but I don't have pictures of that:-)

Fingernails

Anika insisted that Auntie Rachel "do nails". Andrew was fascinated with the polish - He tried to paint Rachel's nails himself.

The Bike Trail

While Aunt Rachel and Uncle Craig were visiting, we took a bike ride along the Columbia River. We had never done it before but I think it will become a new favorite pasttime. We have to drive a little ways to get there but the parks and view are wonderful. (Daddy has decided it is time for Anika to graduate out of the Burley trailer though!)

Andrew kept us laughing (and running)! He ran after this gull pointing and saying "puppy, puppy". I think the gull was taunting him. It was running just out of his reach, but it didn't fly away until almost all the way across the parking lot.

We enjoyed the wonderful parks -- with lots of equipment for Anika and Andrew.

Anika was a wonderful big sister. On the ride back a tuckered out Andrew slept with his sister's arm around him the whole way!!!

Tea Party Time

Anika fixed us a wonderful dinner of spaghetti and then birthday cake - oh, and LOTS of tea!

Fun with Aunt Rachel

Lloyd's sister, Rachel, was visiting this week. (Hence the lack of posting!) We had fun playing on the playset.

Andrew's New Skill

Oh, oh! Mom has a new challenge on her hands. How do I keep this monkey off the tables!!!
